Its official. The closing for the land sale took place on Thursday, March 17th and was celebrated with a champagne toast in the library by building residents on April 4th. In response to security concerns, we have put a new computerized system in place called Keytrak. This state-of-the-art security technology, will allow for better more professional service when staff handle keys to your apartment. Some of the benefits of this system include:
Please take a moment to contact Mr. McKivergan to (1) ensure that he has the correct keys to your apartment, and (2) that your keys have been added to the system.
Mr. McKivergan has also introduced some new forms that will help. One kept at the concierge desk will keep track of visitors to the building and better ensure that only permitted guests are allowed into our apartments. You will be asked to sign it each time you wish to allow a guest access to your apartment. The other will be a door tag that will let us know when someone has been in your apartment to perform maintenance and repairs (as well the work that has been completed.
We will be adding more storage lockers in the basement. Anyone interested in renting a locker can reserve one through our managing agent, Jeffrey Steinman jsteinma@rudin.com.
After the events of September 11th and the August 2003 blackout, building President, Adelaide Polsinelli, formed the Neighbors Helping Neighbors program, to establish a network of neighbors available to help those in need for a variety of reasons in a variety of situations. Eleven year old Justin, Polsinelli's oldest son is the program's originator and manager.
The program, offered to all residents, young or old, homebound or able-bodied, matches residents who have requested to be called on a regular basis and/or in an emergency with volunteers, know as "callers" to visit with them or provide assistance when help is needed.
"Neighbors helping neighbors provides a support system within our community that provides the extra assurance that there is always someone around who cares," commented Polsinelli. And surely many others agree. In its first month of operation, over 40 residents signed up. If you are interested in participating, contact Just Polsinelli at: 212-677-5255.
The building's lending library was dedicated to Tom and Carla Marcosson, in recognition for their long years of service to Two Fifth Avenue. After 33
years in the building they will sorely be missed. Tom served on Two Fifth's Board of Directors ever since the building was converted to a Coop over seventeen years ago. All of the many things large and small that Tom and Carla have done for the building and all who live and work here could fill volumes. Among them, one of the most meaningful to Tom was the founding of the Lending Library. Carla has tirelessly worked to maintain it ever since.
The library has become not only a wonderful building resource but a communal gathering place for all of our residents. The plaque shown here now hangs over the library entrance as a reminder of Tom and Carla's contributions, generosity and unflagging dedication to residential life in our building. Surely it will serve as an inspiration to us all.
